Participant and Volunteer Registration for the 2017 Bed Race has closed. If you have team additions, changes, substitutions or updates, they will be handled at the Registration Tent on Saturday. Thank you!
The 2017 Bed Race is located in the employee parking lot behind the casino.
Parking is free in the casino garage for participants and guests. Once in the garage, take the south stairway exit to get to the employee parking lot- away from the casino entrance. After exiting the garage, look for the pop up tent and flag for Registration. Please plan on allowing approximately 5-10 minutes to get to the race registration tent once you arrive at the casino.
BED DROP OFF AND RENTAL INFORMATION
Bed drop off will be located in the employee parking lot- see the site map for location information. Cars must be moved to a designated parking location once beds are dropped off.
Beds will be inspected for rule compliance at check-in. All non-compliance issues must be corrected in order for a bed to race. No modifications are permitted once checked in except repairs. Bed regulations can be found here.
Limited tools and minor repair materials will be available- if you feel the bed you are bringing may need more extensive repairs during the race, please plan on bringing your own supplies. We will maintain any rented bed. We will gladly accept donations of beds immediately after the races.
Test races can be run from 8:30am to 9:45am and rented beds will be available for use during this time.
Registration is from 8:30am to 9:45am. Please have one person pick up your team packet at the registration tent located in the employee parking lot at the Hollywood Casino. The packet includes a donation envelope, waivers, t-shirts, the race schedule and other information.
After checking in at registration, please have all team members sign waivers, designate a bed rider and enclose any donations you may have brought to the event inside the envelope before returning it to the check-in table. All envelopes and waivers must be returned prior to 10am in order for your team to race.
If you are bringing offline donations to the race, you can enter them into your headquarters on the bed race site, or track using these forms - donation form, pledge sheet and team fundraising totals. You will turn in donations in your team envelope at registration.
TEAM MEMBER CHANGES
If you have not signed up all your team members, please have your remaining team members join your team online.
Team members can be changed up until your teamís first race provided they've signed a waiver. However, after the first race, replacement team members cannot be made to ensure fairness. Team members can switch places among the four spots running, but not with the bed racer.
Race schedules are available '>here. Teams are racing in a pool format with four teams racing in round robin style. Each pool champion automatically qualifies for the championship round. One wildcard spot is reserved for the fastest non-automatically qualifying team.
In the event of a tie between teams within a pool, head-to-head results will be used to break a tie followed by the team with the fastest time(s) will win the tie breaker in the event of a multi-way tie.
Schedules will be available to track your races and we will have two official brackets displayed at the race.
You are responsible for being at the bull pen at least one race before your scheduled time. Races will not be held for incomplete or absent teams. We will be making announcements throughout the day. You can also check the official brackets to confirm when your teamís next race will be. We expect pool races to run until approximately 1:00pm with the championship races complete by 1:30pm.
Awards will be given to the first, second and third place finishing teams, as well as to the highest individual fundraiser and the highest fundraising team. The fundraising awards will be calculated by all donations as of Tuesday, May 9th at 11:59pm and will be communicated in an email. Finishersí Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the final race.
DECORATIONS AND COSTUMES
Rented beds cannot have decorations- one sign that can be easily removed can be secured to the bed during each race. Decorations would delay the races and the day's schedule. However, you are encouraged to dress up in family friendly costumes!
The race will be held rain or shine- so donít forget your raincoats, ponchos and boots if needed! The parking garage can be used for shelter if severe weather is present and the races must be delayed. In the event of extreme severe weather the races may be cancelled. We recommend protecting your own mattress in plastic so as not to ruin it- especially if you plan on donating your mattress to us after the event.
We encourage you to bring your family and friends to the event, but ask that they stay in the Midway area to avoid injury and delays to the race. A tent is available for seating and shelter, but spectators and participants should bring their own chairs. Spectators can park in the casino garage for free. Children are welcome but cannot be left unattended at the casino site and are not permitted to enter the casino per state regulations.
